It is with heavy hearts that we said goodbye to Pastor Randy Pfaff on Christmas Eve 2023 after a brief illness.
Randy was born on January 30, 1957, to John and Eva (Kealiher) Pfaff in Greeley Colorado. He was joined by siblings Sandy and Susan. His family lived in the Arvada area for a few years where Randy graduated from Arvada High School in 1975.
Even as a young child, Randy was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting and fishing. He owned Open Season Outfitters, Incorporated in Eastern Colorado, and spent a great portion of his life guiding and assisting hunters in their search for big game. Randy was also an amateur photographer and recorded several of the success stories of his hunters as well as his children and grandchildren.
Randy attended Olivet Nazarene College in Kankakee, Illinois in answer to a calling from God and met his future wife, Brenda Elliott. They were married on August 29, 1980, in Danville, Illinois. Born to this union were three children: Amber, Randall "Bubba" and Adam.
During his life, Randy also worked as a detention officer for the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office and was promoted to sergeant for Jefferson County Sheriff. He also worked as an Officer for the Colorado Department of Corrections at Colorado State Penitentiary and Colorado Women's Correctional Facility. Randy finished his DOC service as a Recreation Specialist at Colorado Territorial Correctional Facility.
Randy began the Cowboy Church at Crossroads in January 2010. He also worked with students at Florence High School and was a leader for the Florence Christian Huskies. His passion was for helping students understand God and preaching the word of God to all. He loved the students and wanted to provide them with information to make good life decisions.
Randy is survived by his wife Brenda, daughter Amber Pfaff, son Randall "Bubba" Pfaff, and son Adam (Morgan) Pfaff; grandchildren Preston Pfaff, Kendall Pfaff, Gabriella Shepherd, Maddon Shepherd, Isabella Shepherd, and Rakella Shepherd; aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, brother Doug Pfaff, and granddaughter Brooklyn Collins Pfaff.
A memorial service for Randy will be held on Saturday, February 10, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at the Steeples Event Center, 701 Macon Avenue, Canon City. Online condolences can be found at
