Raymond Julius Esquibel, Sr., was born in Portland, Colorado, on April 12, 1942, to Manuel and Lucy (Rodriguez) Esquibel. He passed away on September 20, 2023, in Pueblo, Colorado, surrounded by his loving family.
Raymond grew up in Florence, Colorado. After graduating high school, he achieved a bachelor's degree in accounting from the University of Southern Colorado in Pueblo. He worked for over 25 years at A.P. Green Refractories in Pueblo as an accountant. He then worked for Colorado Refractories in Canon City and finished his career working at Crissey Fowler Lumber Company in Colorado Springs as the Controller.
Raising his five children in Florence, Raymond loved taking them camping and fishing, playing basketball with them, and he loved photography. He also loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He took pride in his family and loved all his pets.
Raymond is survived by his children; Lucy (Roger) Wright, Raymond Esquibel, Jr., Jane (Trace) Hall, Anthony (Reida) Esquibel, and Theresa (Timothy) Rodecape; twelve grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and his brother Manuel (Beverly) Esquibel.
Raymond’s devotion to Christ could be felt in everything he did. He loved the Lord with all his heart and was strong in his faith to the end when Jesus called him home.
Rosary and viewing will be held Tuesday, September 26, at 6 p.m. Mass will be held on Wednesday, September 27, 2023, at 10 am, at Saint Michael’s Parish, 1016 Mystic Ave., Canon City, CO. Interment will follow immediately after at Lakeside Cemetery, 1008 Elm Ave., Canon City, CO.
