Ray died peacefully in his sleep at Hildebrand Care Center on July 27, 2020. Ray is survived by his wife, Mary Lou, and six of his seven children, Roy, (wife Sherry, children Nicholas and Michelle), Dennis, Chris Phelan, (husband Kevin, children Timothy and Benjamin), Greg, Dan, (wife Nancy, children Jeremiah, Harley), Jennifer Loftis (children Allesandra and Anthony).
Ray was born in Tampa, Florida, moving to Michigan as a young boy. He met Mary Lou Carter in Flint, Michigan at the young age of 16; she was 13. He commenced showing off in front of her house, doing tricks on his bike until he got her to fall in love with him. As a carpenter, Ray moved his wife and seven children to Colorado for better work opportunities, where he then became a master carpenter.
Ray had a great sense of humor, even joking about being a “counterfeiter” when he was fitting countertops for one of his jobs. Ray had a passion for hunting and fishing, loving the feel of a tug on the line. Ray was dearly loved and will be missed but not forgotten.
