Rebecca “Becky” Booher, of Cañon City, CO left this life on October 3, 2025, succumbing to a lengthy illness. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, pet mama, and an eternal optimist. Becky was well-known for her cheerful disposition, helpful nature, constant smile, warm heart and her genuine friendly interactions with everyone.
Becky was the youngest of two daughters born to William and Mary Hundley in Celina, OH. In her freshman year of high school, she met her future husband, Dannie Joe Booher, when he asked her to the Valentine’s Day Sweetheart Dance. In the fall of 1965, the high school sweethearts married and lived the rest of their lives lovingly honoring their vow of “until death do us part”.
Becky, Dan and their children moved from Celina to Cañon City in 1975. It didn’t take long for her lifelong career to begin when she joined the dental office of Dr. Charles Gangel. While Dr. Gangel eventually sold his practice to Dr. Jared Smith, Becky remained and celebrated 50 years with the practice in September 2025. In this role she made hundreds of friends and acquaintances, touching many of their lives along the way. She could not go anywhere in the community without bumping into one of these friends.
She had many interests and hobbies over the years. She loved to cook, sew, quilt, garden, and avidly studied genealogy. She took much joy in tracing not only her family’s blood lines as far back as the 1300’s, but also those of her children’s spouses families. She spent many years enjoying camping and attending “Mountain Man Rendezvous” events with her husband, where the couple was pridefully known by their spirit names of “Hawk” and “Shortpony”. Anyone who knew her would agree that her spirit name fit her perfectly. Most recently she enjoyed traveling all over the world, seeing many different cultures and making many new friends, of which she stayed in touch with for the rest of her life. She proudly and joyfully attended school, sporting, community and life events of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren with love and enthusiasm. She also loved her community and always looked forward to attending many local events, parades, art shows and festivals.
Becky truly loved all who survive her, sister, Gloria (Robert) Miller; a loving legacy of 3 children, Jeffrey (Suzette) Booher, Kelley (Scott) Johnson and daughter-in-law Lori Booher (Theodore; dec’d); 9 grandchildren, Samantha Booher, Joryan (Lauren) Booher, Brittany Booher, Conner Booher, Kelsey Booher, Caitlyn Booher, Morgan (Adam) Pfaff, Marybeth Patrick and Vivian Johnson; 16 great-grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews and in-laws. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Dan of 49 years; her second born son, Theodore Joe Booher; and brother-in-laws, Michael and Patrick Booher.
Services will be held on November 15, 2025 at 11:00 am at the Steeple Event and Community Center, 701 Macon Ave, Canon City. There will be a reception immediately following the service on site. Inurnment at Mountain Vale Cemetery is planned around 2:00 pm. In keeping with Becky’s infinitely generous nature, the family requests no flowers but rather a donation be made in Becky’s name to either the National Liver Foundation or the National Kidney Foundation.
