Richard J. Hix passed away on June 6, 2024 in Canon City, CO. He was born in Denver, CO on October 9, 1934 to Edna (Hupp) and Gilbert Hix. He graduated from high school in 1952. Richard began his time in the Army in 1957, receiving an honorable discharge in 1963. He achieved the rank of Sergeant, was a military police officer, and became an expert marksman using a Carbine rifle.
Richard spent 63 years in marriage to his wife, Faith E. (Carroll) Hix. Together they raised 3 children. Richard was employed locally, and for over 34 years, he was the meter reader for Greeley Cas Company. He also spent 14 years as an attendant at Carriage Car Wash.
Richard enjoyed playing guitar, especially his Dobro, camping, being outdoors, shining up his vehicles, and time with his family.
Richard is survived by his half sister, Cheryl Moore; daughters, Michelle (Craig) Olsen and Beverly Caughman; granddaughter, Carissa; grandsons, Curtis, Josh and Justin. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, son, Jim and grandson, Jeremy.
Funeral service will be held at 2p.m on Thursday, June 13, 2024 at Holt Chapel of the Garden: 806 Macon Ave. in Canon City, with Visitation two hours prior. A graveside service with Military Honors will follow at Mountain Vale Memorial Gardens: 1700 Chestnut St. There will be a reception following the graveside at 1105 Ohio Ave. in Canon City.
