Rita was born in Muskegon, Michigan and grew up in Ravenna, Michigan. She was the middle of five children born to Raymond and Lillian Hosman. Rita had three children: Brenda (Skinner) Craig, Michael Skinner and David Skinner. She was preceded in death by her parents: Raymond and Lillian Hosman; older sister: Beverly; older brother: Raymond; son: David; and son-in-law: Don. She is survived by her daughter: Brenda; son: Michael; brother: Richard; sister: Leslie; several grandchildren and great grandchildren, along with many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
She enjoyed volunteering at school when the kids were young. She worked at St. Thomas More Hospital before working in the home health care field. She had a very caring nature and really enjoyed spending time with her clients.
She enjoyed watching Rockies baseball and the Broncos, especially after the team acquired Peyton Manning.
She was an avid reader. She loved to read until her eyesight began to decline. At that time, she enjoyed audio books.
After surviving the lowest point of her life from a divorce, she learned how to handle adversity during challenging times. By obtaining her GED and drivers license, she gained her independence.
Family was very important to her and she always put them first. She will be remembered for her kindness, her cooking and her strength.
A viewing will take place at 2:00 pm Friday, April 26, 2024, at Holt Funeral Home, 608 Macon Ave, Cañon City, Colorado.
