Robert (Bob) Wright was born July 13, 1945, in Garden City, Kansas and died at home in Cañon City on November 23, 2022.
Robert moved to Cañon City when he was 4 years old. He attended Cañon schools but moved back to Kansas to help his dad on the farm when he was in his late teens. He graduated from Holcomb High School in 1963.
He moved back to Cañon City in the early 60’s. Robert worked several jobs throughout his life. He helped his dad on the farm in KS, was a psych tech at the State Hospital in Pueblo, a manager at Crown Discount in Pueblo, owner of Wright’s Distributing milk route, ran Bob’s Conoco and retired from the DOC. After retirement he became the full time Colorado representative for the Correctional Peace Officers Foundation (CPOF).
Robert received a degree in Criminal Justice from Pueblo Community College and a Bachelor’s in Psychology from the University of Southern Colorado.
He enjoyed traveling and was able to visit all 50 states, Canada, and Mexico. Robert loved cars, working on cars, racing stock cars and hunting.
Robert is survived by his wife of 53 years, Theresa. His children: Amy, Ryan (Becky) and Amanda (Mike). Grandchildren: Cody, Megan, Madison, and Michael. His sisters Betty and Connie Rae and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life reception will be at 2:00 on Saturday, Dec. 3 at Lifeway Baptist Church 1007 Elm Avenue, Cañon City.
