Robert Allen Peterson, known affectionately as Bob, passed away on July 31, 2024, in Penrose Colorado at the age of 76. He was born on November 17. 1947, in Grand Junction, Colorado. Bob lived a life marked by kindness, laughter, and an unwavering commitment to his community.
Bob graduated from Florence High School in 1966 and proudly served in the Air Force, as an aircraft mechanic. Where he embraced leadership skills, discipline and camaraderie that military life offered. After his service, he embarked on a diverse career path, initially working at Ideal Cement, now known as Holcim. He later joined the Department of Corrections and, following his retirement, he dedicated his life to working with children at the Fremont RE-2 school district’s transportation department.
A beacon of strength. He was a true hero to those who knew him. His ability to uplift spirits in even the darkest times was a testament to his character. A lover of the outdoors, Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing, and sports. His involvement with the school district and spending time with his family and lifelong friends were the highlight of his days. As he was known for his gregarious and light-hearted nature.
Robert Peterson was preceded in death by nephew Johnny Miller, his parents Victor and Dors Peterson. His great love, and wife Joyce Peterson. His children; Kimberly Duclos (Josh), Brian Peterson (Jennifer), Julie Smith (Brock Miller), Jill Smith (Gavin Courtney). He was adored by his grandchildren; Stratton, Carrington, Arianna, Sheldon, Davanie, and Kiefer. He also leaves behind his only brother, and best friend Victor Peterson (late wife Geanne), niece Jayme (Mich), children Brianne and Colby. Niece Robyn (Mark), daughter Bailey. As well as cousins Steve Pitts (Carla), children Mario (Kristy), Stephenie (Derek), and Amber (James). Cousins Cathy Rigirozzi, Jeanne Headman, and Dianne Sievers. Bob had an unimaginable amount of friends that will miss him dearly.
A ceremony to celebrate Bob’s life will be held at Florence Jr. Sr. High School on August 8th, 2024, at 11:00 am.
