Ronald Dorn Obituary

Ronald Duane Dorn (Ron), a beloved father, friend, and community pillar, passed away peacefully on November 4, 2025, in Canon City, Colorado, at the age of 94. Surrounded by the warmth of his loved ones, he left this world as he lived—surrounded by love and cherished memories. He will join his wife of 67 years, Sharon, who went to be with their Lord and Savior on May 7th of this year.

Born on May 9, 1931, in Sterling, Colorado, Ron's journey was marked by a deep commitment to service and community. After graduating from Colorado State University with a BS degree in Agricultural Engineering, he proudly served in the United States Army and then dedicated 32 years to the Bureau of Land Management, where his passion for nature and stewardship flourished. His leadership as president of the Deweese Ditch Company exemplified his dedication to his community, overseeing significant renovations to the Deweese Dye Ditch dam during his 23 years of volunteer service. Ron was also a founding member of Christ Fellowship Church in Canon City, where his faith inspired countless lives.

Beyond his professional achievements, Ron was a man of many passions. He found joy in restoring his beloved antique cars, a Dodge Business Coupe and Chrysler Airflow, which reflected his meticulous nature and appreciation for craftsmanship. Family camping trips and fishing excursions filled his heart with laughter.  His competitive spirit shone brightly in the bowling league he loved as well as countless board and card games he enjoyed with his family. Both Ron and his wife Sharon were active members of a Pinochle Club for several decades along with a number of close friends. Ron truly lived life to the fullest, embodying a spirit of adventure and love that touched all who knew him.

He is survived by his devoted son, Ronald A. Dorn and Carol; his loving daughter, Caryn L. Lovern and Garry; and his cherished son, Eric L. Dorn and Dianna; his grandchildren, Craig Dorn, Meaghan Dorn, spouse Jon Doncheski, Caitlin Mosconi, spouse Christopher, Kynna Boughton, spouse Orion, Kelsey West spouse Michael, Anthony Erps and Moorea West; and great-grandchildren Makenzie and Briar Boughton, Anthony Mosconi and Lily West.

A memorial service with family and close friends will be held in the spring of 2026.

Ron will be deeply missed, leaving behind a legacy of love, integrity, and unwavering commitment to family and community. His loving embrace and kind spirit will forever resonate in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.
