Ronald Morris Obituary

Ronald Everett Morris passed quietly during his morning shave, on October 17, 2024, after a series of duels and miraculous recoveries with the formidable villain Streptococcus, whose wreaked havoc prevailed.

Ron entered the world, not by shave but natural birth, on September 22, 1938, to parents C. Everett and Beth Morris, who guided him through his early years and into adulthood, with his brother Jay (1940) by his side.  After graduating from Canon City High School and onto college elsewhere for his bachelor’s degree, he ventured to Casper, Wyoming, to teach business at the local high school and college and there, had four children whom he was eternally proud.  On his departure from Casper, with a higher education stop in Laramie, Wyoming, he returned to Canon City in the early 90s, working as a teacher in various prisons and private schools until finally retiring some months before his 80th birthday.

In retirement, he enjoyed endless streaming of mysteries and how to videos on stock trading, watching old westerns, his Bible study group and would take up square dancing again (which coincidentally had been origin story that resulted in his children).

He is survived by sons, Joseph (Victoria) and David; daughter, Britta (Gordon) Crawford; and grandchildren, Evie, Lucas and Declan Crawford, and Pepper Morris.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Kirstin Elaine; and his brother.

He will surely be missed by those that knew him—including his children, who while struggling to understand a man that was surprisingly more positive than not, often smiling, are comforted by the memory of his infectious laugh and knowing while he was not always present, that he could learn new tricks and clearly, enjoyed kicks.

A small graveside memorial-interment service will take place at 5:00 p.m. on May 25, 2025 at Rio Alto Cemetery near Crestone/ Moffat, Colorado, joining his brother Jay, and their parents.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Golden Age Senior Center of Canon City.
