Sharon "Sherry" Delores (Calvert) Morton

Sharon “Sherry” Morton passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones at home in Canon City, Colorado. She was born in Rockford, Illinois on January 14, 1952, to Paul and Verna Calvert.

She moved to Colorado Springs as a young girl with her family. Sherry was raised by her mother, Verna “Earlene” and grew up with her older sister, Paula, younger brother, Deryl, and younger sister, Cindy. Sherry enjoyed playing with dolls and playing jacks as a child. She graduated in 1971 from Mitchell High School in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She attended church every Sunday. As a young woman, she was a Sunday School Teacher, which she loved very much. This Sunday School Class would be where she met her best friend and love of her life, Jim in 1974. Jim proposed to his Pumpkin on February 14, 1976. Sherry married her sweetheart on June 4, 1976, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She enjoyed a lot of different adventures with her love before they had their oldest son, Brian in July of 1978, sadly they lost him the same day. She had three more children after that, Scott in December 1979, Sherrlyn in September 1983, and Nicole in January 1986. She was a stay-at-home mom but kept busy with three kids. She loved her husband and kids dearly. Sherry was a woman of God and taught this and several other things to her children. Sherry enjoyed fishing with family, reading, and playing with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed watching hummingbirds fly to the feeder outside her window.

Sherry is survived by her husband, Jim Morton; son, Scott (Sarah) Morton; daughters, Sherrlyn (Rocky) Stansberry and Nicole (Clay) Clark; seven grandchildren, Daisy, Cody, Ceanna, Olivia, Cydney, Genevieve, and Cassandra; sisters, Paula (Delbert) and Cindy (Mike); brother, Deryl (Jodi); as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Sherry is preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Earlene Calvert; and her son, Brian Earl Morton.

A viewing will be held from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM on Thursday, May 19, 2022, at Wilson Funeral Home located at 1449 S. 9th St., Canon City, CO 81212. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, May 20, 2022, also at Wilson Funeral Home, followed by a graveside service at Lakeside Cemetery in Canon City, CO.
