Shirley Crow Obituary

Shirley Jean Crow passed away on January 4, 2022 after a long battle with cancer. She was born to Thomas and Mildred Henry on July 26, 1949, in Denver, CO. After graduating from East High School in Denver she received her bachelor’s degree in Home Economics from the University of Northern Colorado, in Greeley, CO. Shirley married Dennis Crow in January 1971. Dennis and Shirley moved to Westcliffe following her graduation where Shirley worked as a waitress at the Red Garter and then as a teacher at Custer County Schools. In December of 1972, they welcomed home their first born, Dennis Crow II. In July 1976, they welcome their second born, Linda Crow. Shirley has worked as a dietician, an insurance agent, a fashion design teacher at Pueblo College of Business. She taught developmentally disabled adults how to manage finances, cook and take care of themselves at Pueblo Community College. After the college, she started working for El Paso County Department of Human services where she would oversee parental visitation. Shirley went back to school in 2000 and earned her master’s degree is School Counseling. She then became a case worker at El Paso County Department of Human Services. She then moved to Fort Carson as a Suicide prevention case worker. After that she has been a Domestic Abuse Victim Advocate for the last 16 years. During that time, she helped countless individuals find services and navigate their way out of dangerous and difficult situations. Her clients were like family. She worked hard everyday all day to ensure their safety and well-being. There wasn’t a time she was unavailable to her clients often working nights, weekends and holidays to support them. She was preceded in death by her mother and father and multiple aunts, uncles and cousins. She is survived by her husband, Dennis Crow, her son, Dennis Crow II and Tracey Scully, her daughter, Linda Crow, and sister, Alice Albritton. Her 4 grandchildren – Autumn (Aric) Mills, Kirk (Kathryne) Faulkner, Dennis (Alecia) Crow III and Carolyn Smith. Seven great grandchildren – Arica, Keltey, Kaila, Braelynn, Charlotte, Nolan, Gracelyn. Services will be held in Westcliffe, CO at Lange Hall on Tuesday, January 11, 2022, at 2:00pm. And in lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Shirley’s name to the American Cancer Society or the Wet Mountain Fire Protection District.
