Stanley Conley Obituary

It is with profound sadness and some joy that the family of Stanley Robert "Gus" Conley announce his passing on March 13th 2021, at the age of 85. Gus passed at home peacefully, surrounded by family and friends. He was born May 10th, 1935, in Cripple Creek, Colorado to James C. and Winifred Rose Conley.

Gus is survived by his wife Suzanne; children, Stanley Jr., Toni Tomei, Debra Hack, Carolyn Huffman, Robert Kehr, and Jeff Kehr; 19 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren, with many more to follow.

Gus was preceded in death by his father, James Cullen; mother, Winifred Rose; daughters, Tracy Libor and Theresa Kehr; brothers, James "Doc", Buddy, Donald "Donnie", Larry "Punk"; sisters, Norma "Sis" and Charlotte "Chuck".

Gus had many occupations through his life. He was an ore sorter at the Cresson mine, police deputy, miner, rancher, ostrich wrangler, garbage man, school bus driver, sold coal and firewood, and his passion as that of an entertaining shopkeeper. He had owned filling stations in Cripple Creek, Colorado. He owned and operated G&S Sporting Goods in Victor, Colorado for 26 years. His sporting goods store was a local gathering place that created a sense community through a cup of coffee and a piece of candy. Gus was known for his storytelling as well as his patient listening as others told their stories. Gus used his shop as a way to evangelize and to spread the good news and the Gospel of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.

Gus truly loved the Lord, he loved his family, and he loved his friends.
