Sylvia Wasielewski

Sylvia T. Wasielewski (ne: Banaszak) was born on December 31, 1926, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Helen and Roman Banaszak. She was one of seven children. She grew up during the depression and when old enough left high school to help support her family. She fell in love with and then married Stanley Wasielewski on April 27, 1946. They were married for 58 years. Sylvia had a busy life caring for their five daughters and working outside the home. Years later, she proudly obtained her GED. Her family continued to grow adding sons-in-law and alter four granddaughters and two great-grandsons: Barbara (John) Thielke, Carolyn Wasielewski, Gloria (Richard) Marks, Sandi Miller, Stephine Wasielewski; granddaughters, Heather, Melanie, Ashley and Amanda; and great-grandsons, Matthew and Andrew.

As retirement grew near, the couple moved to Canon City where she enjoyed league bowling, knitting, making arts and crafts, and she became the “queen” of Bingo. She volunteered with Meals on Wheels, church activities and was a member of the VFW #4061. Sylvia was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Michael Parish and St. Benedict Parish. She was always generous with her time, talents and treasure. Sylvia was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Stanley and precious daughters, Barbara and Carolyn, as well as all but three of her siblings and in-laws. She passed away on March 15, 2025. She will be greatly missed but never forgotten.

Funeral Vigil will be held at St. Benedict Parish: 622 W. 2nd St. Florence CO, on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at 6:30pm. Funeral Mass at St. Benedict Parish April 3, 2025 at 10:00 am. Interment will immediately follow at Mountain Vale Memorial Gardens in Canon City, luncheon to follow at the Parish Center.
