Teddy “Ted” Cummings, 86, of Canon City, Colorado went to be with our Lord on April 11, 2022. He was born in Kentucky and grew up in Indiana.
Ted proudly served in the US Army for 26 years, retiring as a Master Sargent. After retiring from the US Army, he went to work for the Indiana Department of Corrections where he met Barbara. They married and moved to Canon City where they both went to work for the Colorado Department of Corrections. He went on to retire from the CDOC in 2005.
They had a mini farm with horses, burrows, chickens, ducks, and rabbits. They both loved to go for rides in the mountains. Ted was a very loving, caring, wonderful man. He helped anyone who needed it and had a great sense of humor.
In 2012 he was diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia. After his wife passed, his stepdaughter Victoria, granddaughter Megan, and her husband Jamison became his caregivers. That way he could stay in his own home, happy and comfortable.
He will be sadly missed and remembered by his family. It’s been a long and tough journey Ted, now spread your wings, fly high, and remember all you had forgotten.
Ted is survived by his stepdaughters, Victoria Salmon, Yvette Pitlik, Yvonne Cornish, and Valerie Leighty; daughters, Gay (Shane) Hamblin and Jan (Dale) Shaw; grandchildren, Megan (Jamison) Kilgore, Daniel (Nicole) Salmon, Heidi Harding, Justin (Angie) Dukes, Ginger Bumbalough, and Kenneth (Lisa) Bumbalough; great-grandchildren, Rhiyahna Kilgore, Wyatt Salmon, River Dukes, Gaven Byes, Audrey Dukes, Mikael Dukes, Olivia Harding, Helen Harding, Eleanor Harding, Serenity Nelson, Lexi Bumbalough, Preston Bumbalough, and Kiara Bumbalough.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, April 18, 2022, at Wilson Funeral Home: 1449 S. 9th Street, Canon City, CO 81212. Services to be officiated by Pastor Todd Luce. Interment with military honors will follow services at Lakeside Cemetery in Canon City.
