Theresa Wertsbaugh Obituary

Theresa Wertsbaugh, age 90, formally of Pueblo, Colorado passed away peacefully on February 2, 2026, in Cañon City, Colorado. Born on October 15, 1935, in Lowell, Massachusetts, she lived a long and fulfilling life marked by devotion to her family and a love for simple joys.

Theresa was the beloved daughter of John and Joanna Zarzycki. She grew up alongside her siblings Jane, Adele, Florence, Wanda, and Eddie, all of whom preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her ex-husband Howard Wertsbaugh. Her early years in Massachusetts laid the foundation for a life defined by warmth, resilience, and dedication.

She received her education in Lowell and was a graduate of Lowell High School class of 1953. One of her fondest memories was being a member of the school baton squad.

After graduating high school Theresa found employment working for the government soldering circuit boards for radios.

One very special memory for Theresa is when she met JF Kennedy when he was running for president!

Theresa met her future husband Howard Wertsbaugh while he was serving in the Navy. They married on December 29th 1956 and moved to Colorado to start a family.

A devoted mother, Theresa is lovingly remembered by her children: Cheryl Latka, Kenny Wertsbaugh, Corrine Poveromo, Kevin Wertsbaugh and Christine Renteria. Her legacy continues through many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who were blessed to know her love and guidance.

Theresa found joy in life's everyday pleasures. She was an avid bowler who cherished time spent at the lanes. Her green thumb was evident in the care she gave to her yard space that bloomed under her attention. She really enjoyed decorating for every holiday event or change of season's. She also had a creative spirit that shone through her work with ceramics. She loved her brief stint volunteering as a teachers aid for early elementary school children.

Above all else, Theresa will be remembered as a very loving and caring mother, grandmother, a great-grandmother and aunt. Her nurturing presence touched generations of her family and left an enduring mark on those fortunate enough to know her.

May her memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her. A Memorial Service will be held on March 12, 2026 at 9:30am at Sacred Heart Church 414 West 11th St.

Light refreshments will be served following the service.
