Thomas Lindsay

Thomas “Tom” Lindsay, 87, passed away peacefully and with family on June 25, 2026, in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Tom was born on January 21, 1939, in Dundee, Scotland, to Thomas Lindsay and Margaret Blackie (née Fraser) Lindsay.

In 1956, Tom joined the Royal Navy as a naval airman, serving sea tours aboard HMS Eagle and HMS Hermes. It was during his naval service that he met Rebecca “Ruby” Stockton, who was serving in the Women’s Royal Naval Service (WRNS). The two were married on July 2, 1960, in Dundee, Scotland, beginning a marriage of over 60 years. Tom retired from the Royal Navy as a Chief Petty Officer in 1973.

In 1974, Tom moved his family from Scotland to the United States, settling in Goose Creek, South Carolina, near other family members. There he built a career as a cabinetmaker while raising his children.  He led the establishment of a youth soccer program in Goose Creek, giving generously of his time to the community he came to call home. He worked at Publix during retirement to stay active.

Tom and Ruby were devoted members of Peace Presbyterian Church in Goose Creek where he served as a church elder and, later, Kirkwood Presbyterian Church in Penrose, Colorado where he also served as an elder. They were also active participants and organizers of numerous Cursillo Christian pilgrimage retreats near Charleston, South Carolina.

Tom and Ruby helped raise their great-grandchildren, cherishing time with the youngest generation of their family. In their later years, they moved to Penrose, Colorado, to be closer to their son, Craig and his wife Gretchen.

Tom is survived by his son, Craig (Gretchen) Lindsay of Colorado Springs CO; their granddaughter, Kara Stewart; and their great-grandchildren, Hailey Grooms and Braelyn Grooms of Colorado Springs CO, and Kameron Stewart of Goose Creek SC.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Margaret Lindsay; his wife, Rebecca “Ruby” Lindsay; and their daughter, Ann (née Lindsay) Cox and her husband, Terry Cox.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Kirkwood Presbyterian Church in Penrose, Colorado, and on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Peace Presbyterian Church in Goose Creek, South Carolina.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to either church in Tom’s memory.
