Thomas Virgil Miller was born on July 11, 1945, to Wanda and Roland Miller. He grew up in Florence, CO and graduated from Florence High School in 1963. Tom was a Vietnam vet who served as a Navy corpsman stationed with the Marines. He was wounded in combat and awarded the Purple Heart.
Tom returned to civilian life in 1970 and married Linda Larratt that year. They were proud parents to two daughters: Shannon and Robyn. Tom worked as a repairman at the Portland Cement Plant until his retirement. Tom was always involved with church and family, spending his spare time coaching T-ball, working in 4H on the Fremont County Fair Board and as Beef Superintendent, Sunday School Superintendent, and Elder for Florence Presbyterian Church.
Tom left this world to join his Savior on July 29, 2024. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Dorothy Lasha and Frances Stroh; brothers-in-law, Gary Stroh and Brent Frazier; and granddaughter, Krystin Branam. Tom is survived by his wife, daughters, Shannon Miller and Robyn Miller; son-in-law, Troy Walters; sister-in-law, Lisa Frazier; grandchildren, Seth (Anna) Miller-Graham, Derrick (Juliet) Branam, Trevor (Abbie) Branam, Malaki Walters, Renaissance (Caleb) Walters, Mikah Gray, Brent Siedler, and Charlie Avila. Tom especially adored his great-grandchildren, Harper Branam, Paxtyn Branam and Arthur Walters.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday August 5, 2024 at the First United Methodist Church in Florence, with visitation one hour prior. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital are suggested. Children always held a special place in Tom’s heart.
