Vincent R. “Bud” Gentry passed away peacefully at home on August 20, 2023. He was born in Cañon City, Colorado on May 20, 1937 to Lovell and Florence (Sheridan) Gentry.
Bud graduated with the Class of 1955 from Cañon City High School. He served in the National Guard and was a member of the local Elks Lodge for over 60 years. Bud and the love of his life, Carol Ann, were married on June 17, 1967 and spent 52 wonderful years together.
He was the friendly face behind the meat counter at Cañon Market for over 20 years. He eventually found his calling as a funeral director with Holt Family Funeral Home where he worked for over 30 years. His smiling face and caring ways were always a welcomed sight at services. Bud knew no strangers.
He is survived by his children: Michelle (Ron) Cook of Cañon City, and Jerome Gentry of Batavia, New York; grandchildren: Jamie LeVan, Trevor (Elsa) Cook, Kylie (Anthony) Jaramillo, Sage and Elsa Gentry and Ashton Cook; great-grandchildren: Emily, Lucy, Lincoln, Piper, Lilah, Deacon and Miles; and brother, Bill Gentry.
Funeral Service will be held Thursday, August 31, 2023 at 9:30 am at Christ Episcopal Church, 802 Harrison Ave, Cañon City, CO 81212. Interment to follow at Lakeside Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Fremont Regional Hospice, Christ Episcopal Church Memorial Fund or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
