Walter F. Morris Jr. was born on December 29, 1948 in Wilmington, DE to Alice and Walter F. Morris Sr. Walter was the youngest of four children. He is preceded in death by his sister, June and brother, John. He is survived by his sister, Barbara.
Walter passed away quietly on July 22, 2024. He was a proud and dedicated husband to his wife, Peggy, who passed away in 2020. Walter is survived by his children, Marc Morris, Dan (Dawn) Elliott; grandchildren, Tidas Elliott, Isaac Elliott, Amanda (Scott) Morris, Valerie (Wade) Todd, Alyssa (Trevor) Drake, Cameron (Lexi) McFarland and Madi (Reese) Morris; and great-grandchildren, Mylah Elliott and Hudson Todd.
Walter was an Army veteran who served in the Vietnam war and was awarded a purple heart for his bravery. He was a proud veteran and showed his pride in his country. After serving, Walter worked as a printing apprentice at various printing shops until finding work in the construction industry. After a few years working as a custodian, he and Peggy moved back to his home state of Delaware where he worked as a sexton for 25 years at the Christ Church Christiana Hundred in Greenville, DE. He finally retired in 2013.
A graveside service with military honors will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 26, 2024, at Mountain Vale Memorial Gardens: 1700 Chestnut St. in Canon City, CO.
