Yvonne Slusher Cornish, of Canon City, went home to be with our Lord on September 16,2024 after a two year battle with cancer. She was born July 3,1963, seven minutes behind her twin Yvette, in Indianapolis, Indiana to Rephald and Barbara Slusher. She grew up in Madison County Indiana, where she attended Pendleton Heights High School. She married Thomas Cox in 1981 and they welcomed a daughter Brandy. A few years after their divorce she moved to Colorado. In early 1990 she had twin boys, Travis and Zachary.
Then in late 1990 she had another boy, Austin. Yvonne was a twin, had twins, and was a grandmother to twins. She was a waitress for many years, she had worked at the Canon Inn, Waffle Wagon and Bufmacks. She returned to Indiana in 2015. Then moved back to Colorado in 2021 and has been here since. In 2022 she was diagnosed with lung cancer. The last few months she’s been in and out of the hospital several times, losing her battle this time. Yvonne loved her children, grandchildren, her family, and all animals.
She had a very loving, caring kind heart. She was loved and will be deeply missed by all that knew her. Fly high with the angels Yvonne!!! Run free of any pain and suffering. She is preceded in death by her father, mother, grandparents and her son Zachary. She is survived by her family to cherish her memory, her daughter Brandy, and her two sons, Travis and Austin. Grandchildren, Axton, Kloe, Kole, Tommie Nicole, and Rayland. Sisters Yvette, Victoria and Valerie. Aunts Jackie and Retta. Several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and cousins.
